Cairngorms, Castles and Coast....

7 days - 7 days riding, 7 nights accommodation

horse riding capel mounthThis is a stunningly beautiful ride taking in the Cairngorm mountains in the national park then riding through the ancient hill passes - the ancient mounth 'roads' of the Angus glens (often no more than a thin trail through the heather).

the scenery is stunning, with some of the highest mountains in Scotland all around us - that's why it's the favourite haunt of the Royal family!

This ride can be combined with the previous weeks ride from Fort William to Aviemore to make a 2 week coast to coast ride.

For 2016 only, this ride will be ridden in reverse - so will start in Montrose and finish at Aviemore - normally we do one ride in each direction.

horse riding loch muick lochnagarWe will start just outside Aviemore, riding through ancient Caledonian pine forests beneath some of the highest mountains in the UK. We ride through wild and remote mountain passes to reach Mar Lodge nestled beside the tumbling river Dee. From here we ride on through the Royal Deeside and through the beautiful Angus Glens, Glen Doll, Glen Muick, Glen Tanar, Glen Esk on the famous mounth roads, drove roads and ministers paths of the area, taking time to visit Balmoral estate, home to Balmoral Castle, much loved by Queen Victoria, who herself rode many of these mountain passes and is presently the favourite holiday home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - in fact, we have to do this ride in July, because during August and September her Maj is in residence, so we can't get access to some of the trails (or the castle!) Stunningly beautiful scenery every day. We finish this ride with a gallop on the beautiful sandy beach north of Montrose.
