Our favourite charities are World Horse Welfare and The Brooke!
Every year we will be organising events to help raise funds for these wonderful charities. World Horse Welfare is a charity dedicated to giving abused and neglected horses a second chance in life. They believe that there is no place in the world for neglect of, or cruelty to, horses. Their mission is to stop the suffering of horses today - by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming in the UK and providing veterinary care abroad - and to prevent the suffering of horses tomorrow, by campaigning, educating and training people. They are currently campaigning for an end to the long-distance transportation of horses to slaughter in Europe.
Every year we organise two challenge rides for World Horse Welfare, raising thousands of pounds for this extremely worthy charity. You can help, by joining us on their challenge rides or making a donation directly to them.
The Brooke is another great charity, providing veterinary care for working equines in some of the worlds poorest countries. They also train local people as advisors and farriers, to help educate the owners on the best way to care for their horse, donkey or mule. Many families in the developing world rely on their animals to earn their own living - if their donkey dies, they may have no income, and their children will go hungry. For more information on the work that The Brooke do, visit their site at www.thebrooke.org
The Brooke is our chosen charity, because it not only helps hardworking equines, but also the families and communities that rely on them. Help us to help them by donating on our 'just giving' page - go to www.justgiving.com/highlandsunbridled
If you book a holiday with us, why not consider making an event of it and raise sponsorship for the Brooke, World Horse Welfare or your own favourite charity, while you ride! That way you get a great holiday, and with just a little effort, a worth while charity get much needed extra funds. Watch this space or our just giving page, for news of upcoming events.
